BR — São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo. Last week, transgender activists announced that they have organized an event to apply pressure to a local politician to issue a mandate that female guards conduct the body searches of men who self-identify as women. The event will take place this month.
“TRANSPHOBIA IS A CRIME!” declared Jornalistas Livres (Free Journalists) on their Facebook page. The post denounced São Bernardo’s Municipal Civil Guard for blocking three male individuals who attended the city’s Summer Festival from joining a queue to be searched by a female guard. The three individuals identify as women.
“Whether CIS or TRANS, WOMAN is searched by WOMAN,” a banner attached to the same post declared. “Due to Trans Visibility Month, we organized this PUBLIC ACT, demanding clarifications from Mayor Orlando Morando to the attitude of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) of the city that prevented Malevola, Khawany and Agatha Urach from entering the São Bernardo Summer Festival through a queue that would ensure that they were searched by a female guard.”
The event is to be hosted by LGBTI Municipal Forum of São Bernardo do Campo and Casa Neon Cunha on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 5 PM to 8 PM local time.
Critics are crying foul, arguing that it is a violation of the rights of female guards to be forced to conduct searches of male bodies.

A male Facebook commenter insisted, “Trans is a man dressed as a woman, meaning he has a [penis] and not a [vagina]. So he has to be searched by a man. No more.”

Exactly, because the goal is not their safety or comfort as they claim, but instead, to trample on women’s boundaries. They want to make us as uncomfortable as possible holding jobs where we might be forced to have unwanted physical contact with them, attending schools or going to shops where we may be forced to undress beside them in locker rooms or dressing rooms, discussing women’s reproductive and medical health, or learning or teaching women’s history. The goal of these women-haters is to drive women back out of public life, and it’s done under the guise of progressivism and rights for an “oppressed” group.
