The It Gets Better Project announced in a recent press release that it is funding grants “in 40 states plus [Washington, District of Columbia], including many traditionally conservative areas,” to any school that is dedicated to being “an inclusive safe haven” for Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) projects.
The effort, dubbed “50 Grants in 50 States,” awards schools “up to $10,000” for project ideas that further the organization’s mission.
The It Gets Better Project revealed the grant winners in the press release, all of which will receive the $10,000 maximum.
The winners include Telluride Middle High School in Telluride, Colorado, which is “remodeling” single-sex restrooms into mixed-sex restrooms that will be accessible to both middle school and high school students.
DreamHouse ‘Ewa Beach Public Charter School in Kapolei, Hawaii is launching a program it calls “A Place in the Middle– Mahu Education for Parents,” which will center “Native Hawaiian knowledge and education around māhū identity (third gender identity)” in order to “bridge conversations related to cultural practices and Western LGBTQ+ topics and language.” The school said this will be essential to its plan of “tackling topics” such as gender identity in the upcoming 2022 school year that parents might otherwise oppose.
Fremont High School in Oakland, California is one of several schools that have pledged to launch “a gender-affirming closet to help trans students access clothing that fits their true selves.”
Carver Middle High School in Carver, Massachusetts will train staff and “update school signage to be gender-inclusive.”
IDEA North Mission College Preparatory, “a school in the conservative area of Mission, Texas” will “create a region-wide Queer Youth Conference where Queer youth across south Texas can come together” with the “primary objective to make schools safer and more inclusive.”
Cape Elizabeth High School in Cape Elizabeth, Maine “will assist the GSA in creating training materials” for educators and administrators. “Trainings will include videos from students sharing the importance of each topic” and “will ideally be shown school-wide at the start of each year.”
Magic City Acceptance Academy in Homewood, Alabama will distribute “pronoun pins,” along with encouraging expression through artistic mediums and creating Unity Murals “based on inclusion and love with a focus on LGBTQ+ History, predominantly queer black history.”
Baldwin Park High School in Baldwin Park, California will create “a garden that will be a safe space” for the queer community.
One project will create “LGBTQ+ little libraries” throughout the state of Wyoming, while a similar project by Walden III High School of Racine, Wisconsin will support the “building of a series of LGBTQ+ Little Free Libraries around town.”
The It Gets Better Project’s 50 Grants in 50 States program is supported by American Eagle Outfitters from customer donations sent via the Real Rewards loyalty program on American Eagle and Aerie.

Oahu school encouraging LGBTQ conversations with parents
HONOLULU (KHON2) — National Pride Month will be coming to an end in just a few days, but the work is just getting started for some incoming high school students in Kapolei as they plan to bring more LGBTQ education …
Schools say they don’t receive enough funding to provide black and brown students with modern textbooks. It’s accepted as inevitable. But funds are raised quite quickly and easily by local governments (like New York’s $40,000 Drag Queen Story Hour program for classrooms) and independent organizations like this one when it comes time to indoctrinate children into gender identity ideology. Who benefits?
The may as well set up surgical suites in these schools for gender mutilation.
Yes. I find the fact that so many schools already have “trans wardrobes” set up immensely worrying. Not only is it telling students that one’s exterior is the seat of their “identity”, it’s blatant grooming with no regard for the feelings of parents/caregivers and it reinforces the social contagion aspect of the trans “trend”. Children and young people should not be encouraged to resort to maladaptive behaviour such as seeking a new identity – in fact, the fact that they want to do so is very frequently a red flag for sexual abuse.
The trans movement in general asks us all to avoid thinking critically and even noticing behaviour which would otherwise be taken as the signs of incredible distress that they in fact still are. I’ve never heard of or seen another movement which provides as much cover for predators and muffles the pleas for help of those who so desperately require it as this one.
So… how does any of this challenge or confront m privilege and m violence. All it does is groom kids!
Gee – I’d have thought that the parents and community elders of Hawaii would actually be best placed to teach their youngsters about their very own cultural practices and history, rather than some colonizing group of Alphabet Mafioso! I guess I must have been mistaken…
I can’t help thinking that separation of church and state applies here. They are basically enabling a religious cult to invade public schools.
I now picture myself going out at night, stealing all the TQ++ai books in the special little free libraries and using them as compost, mulch, contractor cloth in my curated gardens and woods!
