BE — Brussels. According to a radical feminist, a dozen women participating in a demonstration opposing violence against women were violently attacked by transgender activists.

The protest took place on November 28.

The woman, who tweets under the handle guenonist, said she and other radical feminists were present to “denounce the violence constituted by the prostitution and pornographic system.”

The activist tweeted photos of the signs she and her comrades held at the march, which contained such messages as “porn hurts women,” “pornography = DNA of male violence” and “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house,” a quote by Audre Lorde.

She stresses that none of the radical feminists’ signs mentioned the transgender issue.

Nonetheless, guenonist said, “fifty (or more) individuals” transgender activists cornered and surrounded the dozen radical feminists. The women were “pushed around, beaten, insulted, intimidated, humiliated” and “they tore up and destroyed some of our signs.”

The radical feminists refused to be intimidated, guenonist said. “Despite the ‘mob’, we defended ourselves as best we could, certainly alone because the majority followed the movement of the crowd or remained silent. We waited for the situation to calm down and we continued our demonstration.”

As to the motivation for the violence, guenonist surmises that the attackers follow a “misogynistic and backward ideology that legitimizes violence against women” and are seeking to “exclude women who denounce the violence constituted by the prostitution and pornographic system” from their own struggle as women “for the benefit of males, to protect the feelings of males.”

However, guenonist insists that as women who had “suffered one or more forms of male violence … we have a legitimate place in this march.”

She and her comrades have resolved not to let the incident frighten them out of taking a stand for women. “WE WILL NOT SUBMIT; no attempt at intimidation and humiliation will make us falter. We are radical feminists proud of our struggle and we will continue to resist this misogynistic and backward ideology that legitimizes violence against women.”

Transgender activists have launched violent attacks in other nations against feminists participating in marches and campaigns for women’s rights, even when those feminists were not protesting transgender issues.

Earlier this year in France, sex industry survivors protesting prostitution were pelted with eggs by Antifa members, who screamed that the women were “transphobes.” Last year, transgender activists in France seized control of Marguerite Stern’s Collages Feminicides, a movement that has French women create canvas art in the streets in protest of and to raise awareness that France has one of the highest rates of intimate partner homicide. The transgender activists diverted the project to writing messages calling for “TERFs” to be burnt at the stake. (TERF is a slur for women who understand that there are two sexes and humans can’t change sex.)

At a rally the day before International Women’s Day 2021, transgender activists in Plaça Sant Jaume, Barcelona suddenly approached a group of women seated around a banner that read “Si no luchamos juntas, nos mataran por separado” (“If we don’t fight together, we will be killed separately”) and kicked and stomped the banner. A man in a green dress reportedly hit a woman and broke her phone. An effigy of a dead woman was hung from a tree as a threat. In 2020, feminists advocating the abolition of prostitution in Spain were targeted in an organized attack in which they were shoved and physically assaulted and their banners were slashed with razors as transgender activists yelled, “Kill the TERF!”

Despite the horrors facing women who take a stand, guenonist and her comrades emphasize: “We will NEVER submit!”
