US — Las Vegas, Nevada. Yasmine Jackson, niece of the late pop star Michael Jackson and granddaughter of Joe Jackson, was stabbed seven times outside her home in the southwest valley last month while the attacker repeatedly screamed racial slurs.
The accused, 22-year-old Angela Bonell, was booked for attempted murder with a deadly weapon with hate crime enhancement. Bail was set at $100,000.
Five witnesses said the incident began with Bonell standing on a balcony and throwing a broom down at Jackson and her friend, Dymin Dilaurentis, before jumping from the balcony. Bonell had previously complained that Jackson was “too loud,” records show.
“I had never seen this lady before the incident,” wrote the 25-year-old survivor on a GoFundMe campaign she launched to raise funds “for justice” following the May 30 attack. “My friend and I were outside having a conversation when out of nowhere she ran down a couple flights of stairs then jumped down from the second floor and jumped over fence.
“She then started chasing us down the street. I was split up from my friend and while I was running I began having an asthma attack. I ran up to two guys who didn’t help me. People were recording the incident but didn’t help. When she caught up to me she pulled a knife out and began slashing and stabbing me.”
The attacker told Jackson that the violence was “because I was a n***** and that’s all I could hear while I was being stabbed.” The racial slurs were heard by three of the five witnesses later interviewed by police.
“As I was bleeding, I lost energy as I was trying to fight back.”
While Dilaurentis dialed police, a male passerby pulled over and ended the vicious assault by pinning the suspect against the gate until police arrived. A bystander who resided at the apartment complex wrested the weapon from the suspect’s grasp.
According to Jackson, the suspect “yelled at a Black man near by and called him a n*****.”
Officer Lomaglio of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene at 2:15 PM. He handcuffed Bonell before attending to the survivor’s wounds. Jackson was transported by ambulance to the UMC Trauma Center with multiple cuts to the head and body.
Bonell’s Facebook profile shows that the individual, who is Latino, had identified as male when registering the account.
Social media personality Nicole’s View questioned the hypocrisy of mainstream media in always mentioning transgender status of victims, but never of accused perpetrators. She additionally shamed the transgender community for failing to call out the racially-driven violence against Jackson, despite that the transgender community often shames black communities for treatment of transgender-identifying individuals.
Not to mention that all the articles that I read on this story, went out of their way to not even MENTION this fact.

Jackson, who works as a nurse, is traumatized by the incident, noting that it is “something that will affect me for the rest of my life.” She wrote, “I can’t move my neck at all. I’m scared to be alone.”
She expressed gratitude that a few passerby had finally come to her aid during the attack.
She added: “I pray to God that if you have any kind of hatred in your heart towards black people that you heal it. I didn’t deserve this, nobody does. Oh & btw [by the way] I’m still f****** proud to be black.”
Jackson’s mother Joh’Vonnie and other social media users are expressing support for her under the hashtag #JusticeForYasmineJackson.

I think that the elephant in the room is that Ms. Jackson was also attacked because her attacker was just plain jealous of her! Ms. Jackson is a very beautiful natal woman while this trannie looks, quite frankly, like he’s trying to look like someone who can compete with her.
This attack actually had a triple motivation-racial, aesthetics and good old fashioned mysogyny.
Can’t believe most media outlets reporting the attacker as a woman. There should be laws against this. Why is it if the person that is trans is under attack…they say transgender? When TIM gets caught doing a crime…all the sudden a woman? Okay the media needs to address their misogyny.
